Pacquiao:WBC

MANILA, Philippines -- The World Boxing Council (WBC) on Monday declared Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao its Champion Emeritus as one of the three biggest sanctioning bodies in the sport officially kicked off its 45th Annual World Convention at the Manila Hotel.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo graced Monday’s opening, along with WBC president Jose Sulaiman, Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, Games and Amusement Board chair Eric Buhain, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko, and Pacquiao.
Sulaiman also presented a WBC belt to Ms Arroyo, whom Lim described as “a champion in her own right” in the political arena.
Ms Arroyo was accompanied to the ceremony by Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, Speaker Jose de Venecia, and Interior Secretary Rolando Puno.
Sulaiman, in his speech, proposed the creation of a WBC boxing gym in the Philippines through the leadership of Pacquiao.
The Filipino ring icon was set to receive his emeritus award Monday night, according to Pacquiao adviser Rex “Wakee” Salud, who originally proposed that Pacquiao be bestowed the recognition.
Pacquiao is also scheduled to host a dinner for WBC officials and delegates attending the convention, added Salud.
Meanwhile, the boxing hero remained undecided on who his next opponent will be in March.
“I haven’t decided on anything,” said Pacquiao. “It all depends on the negotiations.”
Obviously, he is keeping his options open for his next fight, which Top Rank’s Bob Arum said is already set for March 15.
He also didn’t make any choice from the lineup of possible foes that include WBC super featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez, WBC lightweight king David Diaz and World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation titlist Juan Diaz.
Instead, he focused on the WBC occasion, lavishing praise on the organization.
“The Filipino people is proud to see that the WBC has endured and lasted for decades,” said Pacquiao. “The history of WBC will not be complete without mentioning the Philippines.”'
The convention resumes Tuesday, with seminars conducted for the different regional bodies which are under the WBC umbrella.
Orient-Pacific Boxing Federation president Frank Quill is set to preside over his organization’s convention starting at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Roach, nagfoyo

NICK GIONGCOFREDDIE ROACH is at a loss as to who will be next in line for Manny Pacquiao. So does Mike Koncz, the Canadian adviser of the Filipino southpaw.
"We still don’t have a fight right now," Roach told the Bulletin yesterday from the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California.
Roach prefers to see Pacquiao face off with Marco Antonio Barrera before a meeting with the resurgent Juan Manuel Marquez, the reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) super-featherweight titlist from Mexico, is made.
"That’s a fight many people would like to see," said Roach, who also mentions Joan Guzman of the Dominican Republic and Edwin Valero of Venezuela as other candidates.
"That’s not even solid," said Koncz from Los Angeles in relation to reports that a fight featuring Pacquiao and the Brooklyn-based Guzman for October 6 in Vancouver is almost a done deal.
Koncz said Barrera, who still has one more fight left under his contract with Golden Boy Promotions, remains in the running.
Koncz said Pacquiao, who is expected to bring his wife and kids to Orlando, Florida, for some rest and recreation in the next few days before flying to New York, should be able to know what’s on the horizon after he meets with Top Rank chief Bob Arum.
"Everything will be cleared when Manny meets with Arum in New York," said Koncz.
Roach said Arum was trying to reach him "last night (Wednesday)" but could not tell precisely what Arum was going to say to him.
"Somebody told me that Bob would like to get my opinion regarding Manny’s next fight," said Roach, who is busy working with Manny’s younger brother Bobby, who meets Humberto Soto of Mexico on June 9 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
"But I won’t talk to him especially after he called me an idiot and other names," said Roach, whose animosity towards the Harvard-educated Arum only got worse when the Top Rank chairman handed over a check amounting to $ 200,000 to his Australian strength coach Justin Fortune as trainer’s fee for Pacquiao’s April 14 victory over Jorge Solis.
Roach has gone to court to get his share and Fortune has left the Wild Card to build his own stable of fighters.
Roach said he would like to work with Pacquiao for six weeks in Los Angeles before a scheduled fight.

----$$---

(Bulgar newspaper, for: january 03 issue)

Ed Angara (LDP), Pareng Erap (PMP), Senate President Manny Villar (NP), Sen. Frank Drilon (LP faction) at Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay (PDP-Laban).

(Bulgar newspaper, for: january 03 issue)

Jueteng King and Queen?

----$$$---
ITATAAS na ang toll fees sa SLEX.
Pukawnamooo!

----$$$---

-----$$--

-----$$$---
MALAYANG MALAYA ang operasyon ng jueteng.
Siyempre, may eleksiyon yata!

----$$$---
Pukawnamoooo!

Pacquiao picked as huge favorite
A $ 210 bet for Pacman would only win $ 100By Nick GiongcoAS EXPECTED, Manny Pacquiao was installed as the heavy favorite in his Nov. 18 Las Vegas rubber match with Erik “El Terrible” Morales.
Sportsbook.com has put Pacquiao a -210 favorite over Morales, who was placed as a +170 underdog in their scheduled 12-round super-featherweight clash at the Thomas and Mack Center.
Oddsmakers say that a wager of $ 210 for Pacquiao would only win $ 100, while a bet of $ 100 for Morales would result in a payoff of $ 170 in case the Mexican prevails in the highly-awaited battle.
Pacquiao’s overwhelming tenth-round knockout victory over Morales last January and the difficulty that Morales will encounter in making the weight limit of 130 lbs in the next three weeks are being taken into account in placing the Filipino as the favored fighter.
While Morales dealt Pacquiao a stinging defeat in the first fight in March 2005, the way Pacquiao scored the most devastating victory of his career early this year remains fresh in everyone’s mind.
Pacquiao, 27, was heavily favored in the first match and the odds were about even during the second meeting.
Morales, 30, is confident of conquering the scales with ease with the help of experts from the Velocity Sports Performance based in Los Angeles.
The Tijuana native has been training intensely in the mountains of Otomi outside Mexico City since Sept. 20.
Morales told the Mexican media over the weekend that he is not keen in shelling out a hefty fine if he fails to make the weight.
Pacquiao and trainer Freddie Roach said they’ll take the money and push through with the fight if Morales does not go over 132 lbs.
Gun enthusiast Cris Aquino, who will carry the Philippine flag from Pacquiao’s dressing room all the way to the top of the ring, was still surprised that Pacquiao was pegged the overwhelming favorite.
"Masyado tayong llamado," said Aquino, who first carried the flag in Nov. 2003 when Pacquiao beat up Marco Antonio Barrera in San Antonio, Texas.
